During each Sunday service there is a time and special message for the youth attending. It is usually covered by our Pastor Dave Byers, but it is also covered by Christian Education & Worship Committee members during Advent, Lent and other times, as needed.
The children always receive a pretzel, an activity sheet, and, depending on what the person covering it has decided to do, sometimes candy or a small item. At different times during the year the children will hand out goodies to other church members. On days such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Memorial Day, church members who are Mothers or Fathers or Service men and women will stand and the children will pass our a candy kiss or lifesaver or some small treat to those members as a thank you.
During both Lent and Advent the children receive a set of items that tell the story of Christ’s birth or His Passion. One year the children received eggs that had an object inside depicting the events of Holy Week and just this past Easter they received items that made an Easter Mobile. Each year for Advent they receive an Advent Calendar and then will get a small object that explains the candles of the Advent Wreath.
Once Children’s Time is over the children are able to go to the Nursery to work on the paper(s) they just received or play with toys and puzzles.
