The Session is the council of the congregation composed of those elected by the congregation for active service. The Session also serves as the Trustees of the Corporation, as required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The Deacons are responsible for visitation, sending cards, providing transportation, and being there for those who need someone to listen. They provide meals for those in need of help, and the desserts for Meals on Wheels. Communion is a main responsibility. They also arrange for Ushers and Greeters for each service of worship.
The purpose of the Nominating Committee is to spend time in prayer and reflection to discern who the Lord is calling to serve His church as Ruling Elder or Deacon. They also provide thanks and appreciation events for members for their years of service.

The Worship Committee is responsible for many things concerned with youth activities, Bible studies, and worship services. They decorate the Sanctuary periodically throughout the year, gather worship assistants, and schedule Communion dates and servers for the year.

The purpose of the Finance Committee is to provide fiduciary guidance that will facilitate the church’s mission and ministry. They review operating costs and revenue opportunities to prepare the annual budget.

The committee provides a warm and welcoming environment to those who attend the special events planned throughout the year. Specific responsibilities include Lenten soup luncheon, new member class and reception, Pastor Appreciation Day, and overseeing Sunday fellowship time.

Missional Church Committee
The Missional Church Committee is responsible for discerning where God is calling the VPC into mission and ministry. This process requires community involvement and the education of the church community in looking beyond the walls of the church to serve the Lord.

Stewardship Committee is responsible for the encouragement of the congregation to support the ministry and mission of the church with their talents, abilities, resources, and time. The committee further oversees the organization and distribution of special offerings, such as One Great Hour of Sharing, the Christmas Joy Offering, and Souper Bowl Sunday. They also prepare our envelopes for giving and distribution in the church.

The property committee controls all aspects pertaining to the maintenance and improvements of the physical structures and equipment owned by Vanport Presbystian Church (VPC). Additionally, it is the management body of the janitorial personnel.

The functions of the Personnel Committee include drafting and/or revising personnel policies for Session approval, reviewing job descriptions, establishing a salary structure, and annually reviewing staff salaries, and reviewing the benefits package. The Personnel Committee is responsible to the hiring and the firing of staff members, excluding the Pastor.
